Roxanne (roxanne.be) is a Belgian platform where adult service providers place ads and clients find them. The goal: a verified, privacy-first and high-end alternative in a market full of fake profiles, in English, Dutch and French.

Approach

A Ruby on Rails 8 monolith with Hotwire and Tailwind CSS. Business logic lives in service objects and the UI is built from ViewComponents.

- Verification first: every advertiser is verified by ID and selfie through Veriff, and anyone under 18 is rejected automatically. Identity data is encrypted at the application level.
- Moderation: visitors can report ads, admins moderate them, and authorities get their own read-only portal.
- Credits: advertisers buy credit packages to publish or boost ads.
- Payments: adult businesses are hard to get through mainstream payment providers. Because payments sit behind a provider-agnostic service layer, the platform moved from Mollie to Netbilling to PumaPay without rewriting the checkout.
- SEO: slugs that survive a rename (with a 301), JSON-LD, hreflang, and a blog and FAQ managed from the admin.

Outcome

Roxanne is live as a trilingual platform where every advertiser is a verified adult. Onboarding, payments and moderation run fully self-service, and the payment provider was switched twice without disrupting the business.
